Katie and Raven

This is the time of year when I get a tiny chance to breath, but the work never stops.  I've been going through past shoots wondering about new products and samples.  I came across the bridal shoot of Katie Rentz/Hawkins.  She met with me and said she wanted her bridal portraits to taken with her long time friend, Raven. . .Raven is a horse.  I immediately sat up with excitement.  It was going to be something completely different.  She has been riding Raven since she was a little girl.  They essentially grew up together.   During the shoot, I caught  tiny glimpses of the deep relationship between Katie and Raven.  I've photographed horses for fun on my Uncle's farm before, but nothing like this.
In my final edit of the shoot, many of the photos were turned sepia.  The whole feel of the day and the spirit between the two called for such a muted tone to let the emotion shine through.  These are a few of my favorites.  The one in color turned out to be an almost exact replica of the family's favorite childhood photo of Katie.
I am so appreciative to Katie and her family for granting me access to one of the most beautiful relationships I've seen. . .a girl and her horse.

Darling Dames

When Kris Bush told me the idea for Darling Dames, I immediately started thinking of ideas for photos.  These beautiful, fun, smart girls are hired to represent other companies at conventions and trade shows.  They have to be knowledgeable of the product (which can be anywhere from motor oil to computer programs) and present it in a beautiful, interesting way.  They are remeniscant of the Cigarette Girls and tasteful Pinup Girls from the 40's and 50's.  These photos are from our first (I hope not last) photo shoot.  Good Luck Girls!  It was my pleasure capturing your spirit on camera.  I had a blast!
